So since my last post i have been so sick.  I apparently got the flu that my hubby had and oh man am i sick!  I hurt from head to toe and have a fever.  It has been a while since i had the flu and forgot how painful it was.  BUT…tonight is my chat so I must muster up some energy to do my video tutorial.  This week is going to be making a striped paper so if you want to join me later please do.  The chat is at 6pm EST time in the DSP chat room.

Right now my office is so messy with books and magazines just piled on the table and overrun on the floor. So…I decided that it was time to get this clutter under control!!

With that in mind i went and bought 2 double bookcases and today is the day i clean my office.

My challenge to you all is…clean and organize your office/work area today!!

after all i don’t want to be alone in my misery of cleaning…LOL

I will try to post photos later

So I run this challenge every month at DSP and this layout really caught my eye today

WORKING ON MY BLOG

I have spent today working on this blog. Blogging is kinda new to me and I am not sure i like it too much. I really feel limited. I am hoping that when i take my classes i can learn more about it and really adapt these themes or possibly write my own.

CONTINUING MY EDUCATION

So lately i have been trying to learn more about computers. I have already taken HTML at the college and was signed up for JavaScript but the class was canceled due to lack of registration. I was so sad. I guess I will watch for the next class to come and try again. I am still signed up for php and mySQL classes so hopefully they won’t cancel on me also.

MY TV BROKE

We bought a nice 73″ TV Sept 30th of 07 and well yesterday it went out. I think the lamp went out but they are going to come and check it out. BUT…unless they come quickly I won’t have my big TV for the All-Star game…so sad.

TOMORROW

I am hoping that tomorrow I can finish packaging up these Quick Clicks I made and then make some new kits. I need to make the kits and posting bonuses for my challenge for March. I like to have them all done and ready to go at the first of the month.

First thing you need to do is download the script for PSE 6.0:

Click here to Download the Quick Click PNG Importer Script

RUNNING THE SCRIPT

  • FILE>OPEN
  • Browse your computer and find the QuickClick PNG Importer.js then click OPEN

fig 1

A CHOOSE FOLDER window will open

  • Browse your computer for the folder that contains your Quick Click
  • Select the folder then click OK

fig 2

The script will begin working. Just sit back for a minute while it does all (ok well most) of the work for you.

fig 3

As you can see from the image above this brought all the .png files into one document ready for you to customize with the kit you select and your photos.

Another great thing about this script is it keeps the layer names so that you know what is what in your layers. Such as Layer03a is the Large Scalloped heart’s drop shadow.

BRINGING IN YOUR PAPERS, PHOTOS OR ELEMENTS

The way I like to bring in my papers and such is via the Place command. I like this method because instead of doing multiple steps of open, select, copy, paste, then going back to the document I had opened to copy and closing that document I just simply place. So here is how you do it…

  • FILE>PLACE>browse to the paper or photo you want to use>Click Place
  • Once you click on the PLACE button you will get something that looks like below with the X. If you look in the lower right corner you will see the COMMIT CURRENT OPERATION icon (the green check mark) Click this CHECK MARK

That’s it!! Simple wasn’t it!!

Using the Place command will place the item on the layer directly above the layer you have active.

fig 4

Now that we have our Background layer in..what if you want to change the color of one of the shapes?

CHANGING COLOR OF SHAPE

  • Select the layer you want to recolor. I am going to Select Layer01b and change it to white.
  • First thing I am going to do is LOCK THE TRANSPARENCY of this layer. Look up at top of your layer palette and you will notice the LOCK: with a transparency icon beside. Click on that icon and you will notice the LOCK icon appear on your layer. This means that you have locked the transparent pixels of that layer. I could take my brush and paint all over that layer but the only part that it will actually paint on will be the part of the layer that has color already. So once I have done this I am just going to fill this layer with WHITE.

fig 5 fig 6

CUTTING OUT YOUR PAPER INTO SHAPE

If your Quick Click has shapes (hearts, rectangles, squares, circles, etc…)

You will may want to cut your paper into that shape. Here is how you do that…

  • Select the layer you want to use to “cut” your paper out. For this example I am going to use Layer03b_LgHeartScalloped
  • FILE>PLACE (browse your computer and find the paper you want to use)
  • LAYER>GROUP WITH PREVIOUS (or you can use the keyboard shortcut of CTRL+G)

If you look at image below you will see that my layer I placed is offset with an arrow. This shows you that you have grouped it with the layer below causing this paper to take the shape of whatever the layer below it has.

fig 7

CUTTING OUT YOUR PHOTOS INTO SHAPE

If your Quick Click has areas for photos…which it should

You will may want to cut your photos into that shape. You do it the same way you cut out your paper

  • Select the layer you want to use to “cut” your photo out of
  • FILE>PLACE (browse your computer and find the paper you want to use)
  • LAYER>GROUP WITH PREVIOUS (or you can use the keyboard shortcut of CTRL+G)

That’s it.

You of course can add your journaling and additional elements. And don’t forget you can move these layers around to change the look of it up a bit!!
